Methodology, application and interpretation of low temperature thermochronology
Low temperature thermochronology (LTT) is a powerful tool that allows determine information about the thermal evolution of rocks.
In general, such methodology can be used a series of application, as provenance study, exhumation process, denudation and erosion rates
and orogenic belt genesis, thermal history modelling of sedimentary basin and thermal event of igneous activity. Such method is based on
the interplay between the accumulation of daughter products or fission-track generated in the mineral by spontaneous fission-decay
of 238U and the removal of the daughter products by thermal influence during geological time scale.
The lecture is aimed at discussing different aspects of thermochronology, which will range methodology improvement, aspects of application and examples of data interpretation.
